Why Compass Soap Co.

What Makes Compass Soap Different

01

Superfatted for Moisture

We intentionally leave extra oil and butter in every batch so your skin feels comfortable after you rinse, not tight and stripped.

02

Natural Color & Texture

Clays, botanicals, charcoal, pumice, and mineral-rich powders give our bars their character, without artificial dyes.

03

Cold-process method

Our slow cold-process method keeps the naturally created glycerin in every bar for a rich, creamy lather and feel.

04

six-week cure

Every batch cures for at least six weeks, creating a harder bar that lasts longer in your shower to bring you better value.

How It Works

Our formula starts with Mediterranean olive oil for a mild, conditioned feel. Coconut oil brings cleansing strength, hardness, and abundant bubbles. Shea butter adds creamy richness, cocoa butter helps build a firm, longer-lasting bar, and castor oil rounds it out with dense, velvety lather. Then we cold-process every batch and give it at least six weeks to cure. That extra time lets water evaporate, creating a harder, longer-lasting bar while the glycerin naturally formed during soapmaking stays right in the soap.

BRING IN THE OUTDOORS

Lake air before sunrise. Pine underfoot. Lilacs in bloom. Warm sand after a day outside. Every Compass scent starts with a place, a memory, or somewhere we'd rather be. Pick yours, work up a rich lather, and disappear for a minute.

Questions, answered.

We cure every bar for a minimum of six weeks because the extra curing time creates a harder, longer-lasting bar. We would rather wait the extra weeks to deliver you a more valuable bar that doesn't melt away quickly in the shower.

Superfatting means we add extra oils and butters beyond what is needed for soap-making. These excess fats remain in the finished bar to nourish and moisturize your skin.

Absolutely not. Our bars are free from parabens, phthalates, silicones, and SLS, and we never use artificial dyes. Instead, all of our colors come from mineral-rich clays, activated charcoal, botanicals, and other naturally derived ingredients.

The longevity of your bar can depend on a variety of factors, such as how often you shower, how dry you keep your bar between uses, water type, and amount of lather & body hair. For most of our customers, a bar will last 3-4 weeks or even longer. To extend their lifespan, it's best to store your soap in a place that allows it to dry out between uses, such as on one of our soap savers. This will also help to prevent your soap from sticking to your shower shelf.

Lye is necessary to make true soap. During saponification, it reacts with the oils and butters to create soap and glycerin. Properly formulated and fully cured soap does not contain active lye.
